Cormac Ó Gráda
Irish economic historian, professor emeritus at University College Dublin. Long-distinguished work on Irish economic history (particularly the Great Famine of 1845–1852) and on the comparative economic history of famines globally. With Morgan Kelly and Joel Mokyr, co-author of “Precocious Albion” (Annual Review of Economics, 2014), the influential statement that British IR growth was driven by superior labour quality rather than by Allen’s high-wage incentive structure.
